Sept. 26-28, 2008, Oakland, CA
Critical Resistance
The Thousand Kites Team will head to Oakland, California to attend Critical Resistance 10, a national gathering of individuals working for
social justice in the U.S. prison system.
Critical Resistance seeks to build an international movement to end the Prison Industrial Complex by challenging the belief that caging and controlling people makes us safe. We believe that basic necessities such as food, shelter, and freedom are what really make our communities secure. As such, our work is part of
global struggles against inequality and powerlessness. The success of the movement requires that it reflect communities most affected by the Prison Industrial Complex.
Kites will be gathering interviews with participants about the experience with the criminal justice system. Stop by the Thousand Kites table at CR10 to participate.
We will also be holding a workshop of the Thousand Kites Play. More information to come.
