Kites staff presented a workshop on media strategies at the Highlander Center 's Seeds of Fire NE Tennessee Cradle to Prison Pipeline workshop in Knoxville. About forty young people from NE Tenn. gathered to talk about issues of youth incarceration, zero tolerance, and school suspensions. Youth spoke in the media workshop about ways to build "pro-tolerance" in their schools instead of zero tolerance, how to use school newspapers, radios, and PSAs, and community TV and radio to organize other young people to tell their stories.
