Kites Seeks Communication and Outreach Intern

Are you interested in criminal justice reform? Using arts for social change? Do you want to help start a media campaign or build an online community? Then intern with Thousand Kites!
The Thousand Kites team is currently seeking intern(s) to aid our communications and outreach work about the U.S. criminal justice system by engaging communities with radio, film, theater, and the web. Interns will work with the Thousand Kites team to develop and implement the Thousand Kites national outreach plan; to maintain communication and data systems; and to create new Thousand Kites media content. The internship time and duration is flexible, but would ideally last for 3-6 months, beginning mid-September. Housing is provided, along with a small stipend.
Job Responsibilities May Include:
-Building Thousand Kites Outreach Database
-Generating radio, web, print, and video content
-Maintaining Thousand Kites web presence
-Co-hosting weekly call-in radio program
-Managing online viral marketing campaigns
-Maintaining communication with Thousand Kites partners
Thousand Kites is a project of the 40 year old Appalshop, the media, arts and education in the heart of Appalachia producing original films, video, theater, music and spoken-word recordings, radio, photography, multimedia, and books.
